Imam Mālik Ibn Anas āl-Asbahi’s Opinion Regarding āl-Dajjal

Imam Malik ibn Anas said, the Prophet of Allah said, “The hour shall not come until many Dajjals appear, more than 30.” and he said I heard some scholars says, “All of them will claim I am the messenger of Allah.” (Al-Bayan wa-Tahsil.)

Imam Malik ibn Anas transmits 4 authentic hadith in his Muwatta about āl-Dajjal

1. Imam Malik transmits from Hisham ibn Urwa from his chain to Aisha from the Messenger of Allah, “It has been revealed to me that you will be tested in your graves similarly to the trial of Dajjal.” (Muwatta of Imam Malik ibn Anas, Al-’Adhami, 201/643)

2. Imam Malik transmits from Abu Zubair al-Makki from Tawuud al-Yamani from Abdullah ibn Abbas that the Prophet taught them this prayer like he taught them a chapter from the Quran, “I seek refuge in you from the trial of Dajjal.” (Muwatta of Imam Malik ibn Anas, Al-’Adhami, 240/727)

3. Imam Malik ibn Anas narrates from Nuaim ibn Abdullah al-Mujmir from Abu Hurayrah: that he said the Prophet of Allah said, “Upon the gates of Madinah are Angels, Plague can not enter it nor Dajjal.” (Abu Musab az-Zuhri’s transmission of the Muwatta 1860. Ibn Hanbal, 7220. Bukhari, 1880.)

4. Imam Malik ibn Anas transmits from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Prophet of Allah said, “I saw someone who was blind in the right eye, like his eye was a floating grape, I asked, “Who is this?” it was said to me, “This is Dajjal.” (Abu Musab az-Zuhri’s transmission of the Muwatta 1926. Ibn Hanbal, 7220. Bukhari, 5902. Muslim, al-Iman: 273)

Imam Bukhari said, “It was said to Imam Malik’s student Muhammad ibn Maslamah (transmitter of the Muwatta), ‘Why do I see so and so going to every city except Madinah.’ He said, “Because the Prophet of Allah (SAW) said, ‘Plague and Dajjal can never enter it.’’’

Imam Ibn Habib (Grandstudent of Imam Malik) and Ibn Wahb (Student of Imam Malik) both said, "The second sign of the day of judgement will be the emergence of āl-Dajjal." (Sharh ibn Naji ala Risalah ibn Abi Zayd. 1/38)

“The chapter of preparing for the emergence of āl-Dajjal, Imam Malik said, “It has reached me that the people of Madina used to make their camels and horses hurry across the place where āl-Dajjal will exit.” (Al-Bayan Wa-Tahsil. 32/18)
